Abstract: In the article there are characteristic and most important technological requirements to the main electric, drive of the gate-saw frames on the basis of the asynchronous wound-rotor electric motor in the real operating conditions. The main reasons of a low reliability of gate-saw frames operation with the electric drive of this type are specified. There are two alternate electric drives on the basis of an asynchronous cage-rotor motor are considered. The reasons about necessity of numerical researches with use of the computer are resulted with the purpose of a choice of the most preferable system for given working conditions, ensuring the required characteristics of a motor and electric drive as a whole, and also high reliability of woodworking complex operation.
