dc.descriptionThe article considers the formation and development of ideas of polycultural education in Ukraine and in the Ukrainian pedagogics in particular. The ideas of polycultural education were developed in the XVII century by Czech humanist Y.A.Komenskiy. Besides, these ideas were analysed by Russian scientists. Ukrainian educational specialists also understand the importance of polycultural education in the education of young generation. This article presents a brief history of the development of national education in Ukraine and the attempts of its integration in the world culture. However, there is some difference of opinions on polycultural education and upbringing. On the one hand, some scientists consider that the process of globalization, new tendencies in the development of the world community have a negative influence on the development of the national consciousness of a personality and the development of the national education. And on the other hand, the internationalization of education, integration of national cultures in the international one is an objective to forming multicultural relations, teaching tolerance, kind relationship, kind attitude towards the culture of other people, traditions, and language. Besides, the problems related to the development of modern Ukrainian education are studied. The matter concerns both improving professional education of future specialists and the enormous importance of polycultural education.It is important not to underestimate the value of humanitarian education of students, as humanitarian subjects are aimed at educating and developing a broad-minded personality, competitive at the labour market. The understanding of this problem resulted in the adoption of national Ukrainian programs at the end of the ХХ century. In these programs the basic principles of polycultural education are formulated, their necessity for the development of the adequate society which values both its culture and other cultural ideologies is stressed. In conclusion the great importance of the national education is emphasized . Without this understanding the development of polycultural education is impossibleen_US
