Abstract: In this paper we consider the motion described by system of differential equations and which referred to the main axes of a rigid body inertia at its fixed point. Using cross-section, a phase portrait of the movements of the Hess gyroscope was constructed and studied. The study of the transition to chaos is carried out depending on changing in the system parameters. The main variable parameters are the components of the gyration tensor and the values of energy and area integrals.
