Abstract

The modern world is characterized by constant changes, the instability of consumer demand in the market, the presence of a large number of enterprises of various forms of ownership, and an increase in uncertainty and risk. Therefore, to remain competitive in the market, the enterprise must constantly monitor and respond to all changes occurring in its competitive environment to preserve and strengthen its position in the market and ensure effective management of competitive advantages. The article investigated the essence and functions of economic management in the modern world, as well as its impact on the competitiveness and sustainability of the development of enterprises and the economy in general. Economic management is one of the branches of management that studies the process of managing the economic activities of organizations to achieve strategic goals. It includes such components as financial management, operational (production) management, marketing management, logistics management, and others. Thanks to economic management, enterprises can achieve strategic goals, increase the efficiency of their activities, reduce costs, and increase the quality of a product or service. Effective economic management is important for the successful operation of any enterprise, especially in conditions of competition and changes in the market. The main directions of development of economic management in the modern world were considered. An analysis of the main areas of development of economic management, including strategic planning, financial and marketing management, personnel management, optimization of business processes, risk management, and innovative development, was carried out. The general trends and features of the development of economic management in the modern world are determined. In the modern world, economic management is an integral part of every economic system, be it the public or private sphere. It helps ensure the efficiency of enterprise management and contributes to the sustainable development of the economy as a whole.
