Abstract

The article focuses on the problem of linguocultural competence as a component of professional competence of International Business Managers. In the narrow sense, the notion of competence is defined as the combination of knowledge and mechanisms of its application, whereas in broad sense of the term, “competence” is considered to be a personal feature based on the knowledge, personal and intellectual expression of an individual’s professional activities. The concept of professional competence is determined by the level of professional qualifications and experience of a person, their abilities and skills, their motivation and willingness for self-education and self-improvement. Essential requirements for the modern manager’s professional competence are formulated. The importance of business communication skills in the effective professional life of the manager is highlighted in the article. The components of the IBA managers’ communicative competence, which embraces linguistic, sociolinguistic, sociocultural competences and intercultural communication skills, are defined. This determines the necessity to change the future managers’ educational directions towards the joint learning of language and culture, which is the way of formation the IBA manager linguocultural competence. Linguocultural competence is defined as an integrative quality of a future specialist in international business sphere, which characterizes their ability and readiness to interact and understand representatives of other linguistic and cultural societies on the basis of language and culture knowledge and personal social experience in dealing with professional tasks at the international level.
