Description: Wireless local area networks are increasingly popular. They underwent the process of standardization, data rate increased. Today, wireless networks make it possible to provide connectivity to those areas, where cabling is impossible or requires the full mobility. Wireless networks are fully compatible with cable networks. The latest developments in the field of wireless communications have led to the appearance of new devices, which are compatible with IEEE 802.11g. The new equipment can transmit data at the speed of 54 Mbit / s and operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency range. The author examines the problem of radio signal`s propagation at different frequencies (including 2.4 GHz) in the difficult conditions, i.e. underground network in coal mines. The work of radio systems in mines, tunnels and other underground facilities has a number of features: the strong attenuation of radio waves in rock, depending on the types of rocks, their moisture, electromagnetic field`s frequency, increased requirements to equipment due to high humidity, dust, high explosive, a large variety of underground structure`s options. Propagation model was constructed and analyzed in difficult underground conditions. All models were made using the LabView software package, which allows estimating the characteristics of a radio signal in the underground part of the coal business. The proposed model allows taking into account the influence of the electrical conductivity and dielectric permeability of the tunnel wall material, different frequencies and outputting power of the radio signal. Thus we can conclude that: - The use of high frequency decreases the maximum distance between the transmitting and receiving antennas; - Reduction of the power of the transmitter reduces the range of radio transmission.
