dc.descriptionThe article generalizes the leading strategies of gifted children pedagogical support in Spain. The author considers the practical experience of educational response to high ability children at typical comprehensive educational establishments. Nowadays the Spanish educators use the following strategies of educational response: acceleration, grouping, educational enrichment and extracurricular support. Spanish scientists point out that acceleration can be of 2 types: unlimited and controlled. In Spain controlled acceleration holds the leading position. High ability pupils have the possibility to enroll the education period earlier than the age set by the actual law, but the acceleration cannot exceed 2 years during the whole period of education (1 year of primary education and 1 year of secondary education). However, gifted children are not allowed to enroll higher education earlier than it is set by education law. Another strategy developed by educational administration is grouping. Grouping is realized in two ways: general and partial. The leading tendency in Spanish education is educational integration, which presupposes the education without separating any kinds of pupils. That’s why Spanish educators put into action partial grouping which is realized by means of forming groups or classes of high ability pupils according to their interests and talents in the network of typical comprehensive schools. Educational enrichment is the most widespread means of education response to gifted children. It is widely used in the educational process of secondary schools. The enrichment is implemented in the way of widening the curriculum or individual adaptation of the curriculum according to the special needs of gifted children. Extracurricular support is realized by means of enrichment programs which are put into practice by non-government organizations or higher educational establishmentsen_US
