Abstract: In chemical engineering, mathematical process modeling, dynamical simulation, nonlinear analysis, and advanced process control design are issues ofgrowing importance. As a software tool adressing these issues, the modeling and simulation environment PROMOT/DIVA is introduced. This environment comprises tools for process modeling, model preprocessing, and code generation. Advanced algorithmsfor numerical simulation, parameter continuation, and dynamical optimization can be applied to the coded differential algebraic equations of the considered process model. As an application of the simulation environment DiVA, the design and implementation ofslate estimation are presented. Moreover, the simulation methods and toolsfor chemical pmcesses are showing much parallelism to those for ventilation networks of coal mines which are studied at Technical University of Donetsk.
