| Опис: | The article is devoted to the British experience of gifted education. There is a joint endeavour between educationalists, the wider business and voluntary community to produce leaders of the country who can compete in a globalised world, which has become a major reason for a dedicated educational focus on gifted and talented pupils in Great Britain. The English model aims to work across boundaries in pursuit of expertise, mobilising all sectors to support education. Britain’s approach to the nurturing of ability and talent in schools has been ambiguous, and traditionally, the needs of the gifted have not been an educational priority in England. The situation changed markedly in 1997 when the government declared the needs of the gifted to be an educational priority with the development of a national strategy. The last several years have seen the implementation of a systematic national strategy which includes: support of the most gifted and talented in the country and in each school, particularly in disadvantaged areas; provision building on pupil’s particular strengths and weaknesses, making sure they receive a broad and balanced education; combination in-school learning with complementary opportunities out-of-school hours; provision more opportunities for pupils to progress in line with their abilities, rather than their age; blend increased pace, depth and breadth in varying proportions according to the ability and needs of pupils. A coherent educational policy, which has five elements (integration, quality in the basic system, diversity, equality of opportunity, and globalism) has been designed to reform practice in schools |
